one page wordpress template
On a new assignment I am asked to make wordpress templates for a theatrical group. The design was done by a friend of mine, who is a very good graphic designer (but not a webdesigner, as I always try to explain to him). The problem with this part is mostly that it looks nice on the surface but is most always nearly impossible to realise, since I always find myself hacking wordpress to the core files even to get most of it done(which isn’t very upgrade-friendly).
Now this is a design that requires in- and out-fading and randomization of background images, multiple identicle submenu’s for different pages, and linking from those subpages to the right categories. The page consists of a multitude of background images that should be formed randomly but should stay the same when browsing through the site (yes, this could all be so much easier…). One solution I came up with is making ONE page as a wordpress template, adding all the layers and everything, and hiding the unused layers. A solution that works fine for most of the pages, with one problem; when clicking on a “read more” link in wordpress it refers to a single.php or a page.php template. I just want it to set the layer I want to visible. Any suggestions (besides changing the whole theme) would be welcome. Any shared irritations from other webdesigners/-developers as well.
