The web 2.0 dilemma
As I mentioned earlier, the web 2.0 hype is spreading. And, finally, it has inevitably reached our little country as well. Suddenly everything has to be xhtml/css (to which I agree on this point), needs tags, dynamic as never before, and has the maximum functionality available to the public. NO, as you have probably guessed by now, I don’t think it’s a good thing. Why not? Because the hype tends to take over the usability in many cases. Such is the case with a dutch music-review site called 3voor12 for instance. Before, the site was totally made in flash (such as their local sites are now) which is, for many reasons, also a bad thing in my opinion. But now, their site lacks every hint of a user friendly design but with as much web 2.0 crap as you can expect from a site this size. It’s a shame it has to be this way, but on the other hand it shows there’s always room for improvement.
